This is very useful for trying to find out the coverage of your wireless router. I used this at my church for figuring out where our WiFi "dead spots" were, and where the card tends to switch from one hot spot to another (since we have three to cover the entire building). It's also very useful in tandem with KisMac, having KisMac automatically connect to any open network while wardriving. Leave both windows open so you can see both easily, and you can use AP Grapher to get in a good position for best reception. Note to those who asked about certain features not graphing (like noise, signal, etc): Those depend on your computer and wireless card. Certain AP cards will not provide data for those features, some will. I don't know off the top of my head which ones do what, but at least you can know why. :)

AP Grapher helped me in comparing my ADSL WiFi router settings. Changing from channel 11 to 10 leads (for my config) to a near 10% signal gain. The graph displays the benefit instantaneously while I change the channel on the fly.

My PBG4 is running a Belkin F5D7010 54g card and AP Grapher works with it. Only the quality data are collected; both signal and noise graphs stay at zero. Even that way, it is worth its stars!

This is a very easy to use app that shows airports signal strength perfectly and simply. I love it when I'm looking around for a wireless network and am trying to determine whether the network I'm connected to has enough strength to be reliable. This app is free, which is a plus too. AND it works perfectly on my 10.4.7 powerbook even though it has not been updated for a while. Bravo!

would be even nicer.. if it could display the percentage in the menu bar this would be a killer app.. as it stands, this is a severe beating - bravo!

A little graph that shows me not to put the base station near the radiator. Which was what I should have known, but was too thick to realize. Brilliant, simple, saves money, free. Also Apple allows it to be plugged on the Support bit of their site, which is nice. Perhaps they are slightly embarrassed that their connecting distance claims for Airport don't add up. Fine in a vacuum, don't let a cat get in the way (signal drops 12%).

Wow, I wish I had this about a month ago when I was setting up my house for wireless. It's so cool, i can put my hand in front of the antenna on my powerbook and see the signal drop!

This is one of those one trick ponies, but it sure does its one trick exactly as it should. And the price couldn't be better. This program helped me finally figure out my connectivity issues in my home office. Thank you

I noticed this app mentioned on "Mac OS X Hints" and decided to give it a try. And now that I've used it for awhile, I never realized how variable my laptop reception is throughout my house. My wireless AirPort link works satisfactorily, including on the deck, so I never gave much thought to reception issues. But this app would really be handy for troubleshooting. (...)

I somehow missed the updates since 0.3.1 and - wow - I'm very impressed. Very small application footprint and very clear window data. Great job!

Within seconds of d/loading I verified that everything was indeed better than what had already been very good. CPU usage hugely diminished, easy to prevent scroll bars appearing, simple to get desired balance between refresh rate and buffer, retains settings... You just sense that the author really enjoyed putting this together. Most people with airport would find a use for this. Very highly recommended.

Thank you again, Chimoosoft - it's beautiful.

I got an email thanking me for my tiny suggestion. I got another email telling me it was implemented - and ready. I d/loaded the new vs and it is perfect. Product and service don't get better than this.

Apart from other uses this simple little app takes much of the 'hit-and-miss' out of fine-tuning the position of the base station. (3 Macs around the house.) Much more accurate and much faster than getting my wife to shout from downstairs: "Just over three bars, I think"!

Thank you very much.
